Shipping · DHL

An international parcel reports into the same card

An order shipped domestically and one shipped with DHL live in one list and speak one status vocabulary. A single DHL key covers Express, eCommerce, Parcel and Freight.

What exactly connects

Shipment Tracking – Unified: DHL's official API, which answers for a shipment in any division — Express, eCommerce, Parcel, Freight. Creating labels is not part of it: that is MyDHL API, a separate product with its own contract, and we do not promise it.

DHL status → CRM shipment state

DHL has one dictionary for every division and every country, so it is deliberately coarser than a national carrier's.

  • pre-transit — label created, DHL has not collected it

    Pending

  • transit — on its way

    In transit

  • delivered

    Delivered

  • failure — delivery did not happen

    Failed

  • unknown — DHL holds no data for the number

    nothing changes

Worth knowing up front

All three limits are stated plainly, because each one shapes how often statuses refresh.

  • The key is free, but the initial tier is 250 calls a day and no more than one every 5 seconds. That is why the CRM polls DHL every 6 hours rather than hourly.
  • Up to 40 waybills refresh per run, longest-unchecked first — a large backlog catches up across runs instead of getting stuck at the head of the list.
  • DHL has no “ready for pickup”: a parcel waiting at a ServicePoint reports as in transit. We do not guess which division is speaking.
  • Registration at developer.dhl.com is free, but DHL verifies the company before issuing a key.

How to connect

  1. 1

    Get the key

developer.dhl.com → create an app → subscribe it to Shipment Tracking – Unified → copy the API Key.

  2. 2

Paste the key into the CRM

Settings → Integrations → Platform adapters → DHL. The key is stored encrypted and never reaches the browser.

  3. 3

    Test the connection

The CRM makes one request with a deliberately impossible number: DHL answers “no such shipment”, which proves the key works without spending a real waybill.

Frequently asked

Can the CRM print DHL labels?
No. That is MyDHL API — a different product with its own account and contract. We track what you created at DHL.
Is the free tier enough?
For a shop with dozens of international parcels a month, yes. The CRM stays inside it: 4 runs a day × 40 waybills is 160 calls out of 250. For more, the DHL portal has a “Request Upgrade” button.
One key for every DHL service?
Yes — that is the point of the Unified API: Express, eCommerce, Parcel and Freight all answer through one key and one status vocabulary.
What happens when the allowance runs out?
DHL answers 429 and the CRM stops that key's run instead of hammering the rest away. The next run resumes from the longest-unchecked waybills.
